Dovetail

Overview

Create AI prototypes in Alloy directly from anywhere in Dovetail. From chat or a channel theme, send a summarized view of the selected content to Alloy, then build on top of your own product captures for lifelike results. No additional authentication is required beyond having both a Dovetail and an Alloy account.

How it works

Generate prototypes from within Dovetail using chat or a channel theme.

• Enable the beta in Dovetail: Go to ⚙️ Settings → Beta and enable Create AI prototypes with Alloy.
• Prepare Alloy: Sign up for Alloy, add the Alloy browser extension, and capture snapshots of the relevant screens in your product. These captures act as templates for prototypes.

Create a prototype from chat

1. Open any transcript, insight, tag with highlights, project, or channel.
2. Click Chat with… at the bottom of the screen.
3. Ask chat to create a prototype in Alloy (e.g., “Can you create a prototype in Alloy?”).
4. Dovetail will summarize the feedback and show an Open prototype in Alloy button.
5. Click the button and select a capture to start prototyping in Alloy.

Create a prototype from a channel theme

1. In a Channel, open the ··· menu on a theme.
2. Click Prototype in Alloy to hand off context and begin in Alloy.
