Thank you for being an early Alloy customer. I want to give you a heads-up about a change to how AI usage is priced, what it means for you, and what we've done to make the transition easy.
The short version: Until now, one Pro seat included unlimited AI usage for everyone in your workspace. That pricing isn't sustainable for us long-term - our costs scale with usage, and some workspaces cost us several times what they pay. Rather than degrade the product, we're moving to credits for AI usage per user.
From July 18, 2026
- We're introducing a credits system (metered in $ USD) for AI usage via chat.
- Each Pro seat ($20/month, unchanged) includes $20 of AI credits per user, per month.
- Free collaborators remain unlimited in number, and each free user now gets $5 of AI credits per month.
- Additional usage draws from a shared workspace credit pool you can recharge anytime, with optional auto-recharge.
- If a user runs out of credits, only AI chat pauses - your prototypes, sessions, comments, and sharing all keep working, always.
To smooth the transition, we've added $50 of bonus credits to your workspace at no charge.
What we are not changing
Your monthly bill doesn't change unless you add seats or credits, and access to your workspace, prototypes, and sessions is never restricted.
Setting up your workspace
If you or your team are frequent users of Alloy, we recommend you take the following actions in Settings > Billing:
- Review the number of Pro seats in your workspace, and purchase more if needed.
- Confirm Pro seats are assigned to your most frequent users.
- Consider purchasing workspace credits if you anticipate users with frequent usage of the Alloy platform will exceed the personal credit balance.
- Enable automatic recharge to add credits automatically when your workspace balance runs low.
We're also shipping two things to give you more control: a model switcher (use faster, cheaper models for simple requests - available later this week) and credit usage visibility in Settings (available today).
