User management
Workspace members in Alloy are teammates invited to collaborate on prototyping. They share a plan and bill within the workspace and have access to captures, prototypes and component libraries. Any workspace member can invite new members by selecting the workspace name from the top navigation bar. Invited members need admin approval.
What are members?
Workspace admins invite members to join their workspace and collaborate on prototyping. These members share a plan and a bill for the workspace. Members are typically your teammates who have access to capture, view, and prototype using your Alloy workspace.
Members are not typically your customers or external stakeholders with whom you may share prototypes.
Invite a member
Invite your teammates to give them access to prototyping, collaborate on your prototypes, and use your workspace's captures and component libraries. Any workspace member can invite new members. When you invite a new member, their access will be pending until an admin approves them.
To invite a member:
- Select the workspace name from the top navigation bar.
- Select Invite members. The settings modal appears.
- Enter the new member's email address and select Invite. An invitation email is sent to the member's address.
Invited members need to sign up for an Alloy account before they join your workspace.
Change a member's role
You can grant your workspace members one of two roles: Admin or Contributor. Contributors can do most things. Only admins can manage users.
To change a member's role:
- Select the workspace name from the top navigation bar.
- Select Settings. The settings modal appears.
- Under Workspace, select Members.
- Find the member whose role you want to change in the table. Their current role displays next to their name.
- Select their current role and choose their new role from the dropdown.
Member roles and permissions
When you invite members to join your workspace, you can grant them either the Admin or Contributor role. Contributors have access to prototype and content features. Admins have additional access to manage users.
Here are the permissions granted to users based on their role:
| Permission | Admin | Contributor |
|---|---|---|
| Create capture | Yes | Yes |
| Delete capture | Yes | Yes |
| Create prototype | Yes | Yes |
| Edit prototype | Yes | Yes |
| Delete prototype | Yes | Yes |
| Share prototype | Yes | Yes |
| Access settings | Yes | Yes |
| Invite member | Yes | Yes |
| Approve pending member | Yes | No |
| Remove member | Yes | No |
| Change member role | Yes | No |
Changing plans and billing is restricted to the user who initially provided their payment details. If you need help changing your plan, contact our support team.
Remove a member from a workspace
To remove a member from the workspace:
- Select the workspace name from the top navigation bar.
- Select Settings. The settings modal appears.
- Under Workspace, select Members.
- Find the member whose role you want to change in the table.
- Select more actions (...) > Remove member from workspace.
Removing a member does not remove any captures or prototypes created by the member. Members who are removed from a workspace still retain their Alloy account and can access their personal workspace.
