Quick start
Everything you need to start prototyping with Alloy.
Introduction to Alloy
Alloy is a lifelike prototyping tool for product management. With Alloy, you can capture your existing product pages and prototype new features instantly.
Book an onboarding
You can always book an onboarding session with the team to walk through Alloy live and have any of your specific questions answered.
Setting up Alloy
Alloy is available as a web, desktop, iOS, and (coming soon) Android app. To capture your existing product pages and components, we also have a browser extension.
Workspaces
We create a workspace when you sign in to Alloy for the first time. This is the workspace for your organization (if you used your work email) and will be available to others from the same domain when they sign in. If you used your personal email, the workspace is private to you.
The work you do in Alloy is only available to others in your workspace unless you choose to share it later.
Capture your first page
Using the Alloy browser extension, you can capture your first page by viewing it, opening the extension, and clicking “Capture page”. This is the best way to prototype with pages that are not publicly available, for example apps that require logging in.
If you want to capture a public page like google.com, you can simply copy the URL, and paste it into Alloy’s web or desktop application.
You can also start from a screenshot of a page – simply drag the screenshot into the Alloy prompt area. Note that starting from a screenshot produces less detailed results, but is a fast way to prototype in low-fidelity when quality is less important.
Prototyping
After capturing a page, you’ll land in the edit mode of your first prototype. Alloy lets you work with prototypes through prompting (like talking to ChatGPT) and visual editing (like using Figma, Framer, or Webflow).
Prompting is great for kicking off new ideas and making complex changes. Switching to visual editing is great for polishing the final details of your prototype and making precise adjustments.
Share your prototype
Prototypes are built for sharing, both with your teammates and customers. Click “Share” in the top right of your prototype to invite people and modify permissions.
You can always explore what external viewers can see by clicking “Preview”. By default, your chat history and versions are not available.
