Slack
Connect Alloy with Slack to share prototypes, receive notifications, and manage approvals directly in your workspace.
Alloy integrates with Slack so you can create prototypes directly from messages, share live designs, receive notifications, and manage approvals without leaving your workspace. This keeps design work visible and discussions in context.
Prerequisites
- Slack workspace admin (or permission to add apps)
- Alloy workspace admin
Setup
To connect Slack with Alloy:
- In Alloy, go to Settings → Integrations → Slack.
- Click Add to Slack and authorize the Alloy Slack app.
- Choose default channels for:
- Prototype shares (e.g.,
#design-review
) - Notifications (e.g.,
#design-notifications
)
- Prototype shares (e.g.,
- Configure which notifications to send (comments, mentions, status changes, version restores).
- Click Save & Test to send a sample message.
Using Slack with Alloy
- Create a prototype from Slack: From a message in Slack, click the more options (•••) menu, then select Create Prototype in Alloy.
- Share a prototype: From within Alloy, select Share → Send to Slack, pick a channel, add a note, and send.
- Approvals: React with ✅ or reply in-thread to approve. Alloy records the approver and timestamp (if enabled).
- Subscribe a channel: In Alloy, go to Settings → Slack → Subscriptions → Add, then choose a prototype or folder and select which events to receive.
Uninstalling or disconnecting
- In Alloy: Settings → Integrations → Slack → Disconnect.
- In Slack: remove the Alloy app from your admin console if needed.
Tips
- Route comments and mentions to a dedicated channel to keep reviews tidy.
- Use Slack threads to contain discussion around each prototype share.
Troubleshooting
- No messages appearing? Confirm the bot has access to the target channel (it may need to be invited).
- Too noisy? Adjust notification types or subscribe only to specific folders instead of the entire workspace.
